113-macaroons

Who doesn’t love macarons? I for one am addicted to them… I even tried making them a few weeks ago but failed horribly. They are incredibly hard to make!! One thing I love about them is the amount of different flavours you can get. Oh and how pretty they look of course!

I LOVE admiring cake/pastry art. The amount of work and control that goes into it is just…amazing. So amazing you don’t even want to eat it! And I’m not even talking about those elaborately decorated wedding cakes or anything either…even a simple croissant or palmier can look absolutely DIVINE if they’re made right.

I just stumbled upon this gallery courtesy of one of my facebook friends- and don’t the cakes look amazing?!?:

Imperial Chocolat

Imperial Chocolat
It is a cake of chocolate mousse and dark chocolate.

Pumpkin Mont Blanc
Pumpkin Mont Blanc
Mild flavor of carefully pureed steamed pumpkin.

Strawberry Short Cake
Strawberry Short Cake
Combination of strawberry, sponge and fresh cream is the standard cake of all.
Rare Cheese Cake
Rare Cheese Cake
We bring out the best of the Denmark cream cheese.
Butter Cream Cake
Butter Cream Cake
The buttercream decoration cake is now available by the pieces. Its specialty is the delicate saltiness of the salt butter used in the cream.
Cacao Mint
Cacao Mint
A refreshing cake of cacao mousse which has a fragrance of fresh mint rolled up.
Cherry blossom mousse
Cherry blossom mousse

This seasonal cake using flowers of Izu cherry blossom and young leaves of Oshima cherry blossom is available during March and April.

And that’s only THE START!! The Fluffy Roll and Green Tea Chiffon cake look so utterly nom-able. The cakes look so perfect! So square! And the icing so delicious. The Cacoa Mint is my personal favourite.

AND THEN there’s the pies and cookies!!!

Leaf Pie

Leaf Pie
Using mountain milk from Tohoku area, it is a masterpiece of the West.
Fresh butter and flour are folded into 256 layers each by hand,it is shaped as a leaf. The crispiness of the pie and the texture of the sugar is the distinct characteristic of this pie.
Polon
Polon
After a large piece of Turkish hazelnut is wrapped with cookie dough and baked, powder sugar is sprinkled while it is still hot.It is a completely new type of confectionery. This confectionery which reminds you of a whitesnowball is also popular as a souvenir for a wedding party.
Almond Tart
Almond Tart
Baked with candied, savory thick almond slices on top of a sable-type biscuit, kneaded with almond powder.
Victoria
Victoria
Once baking the tart cookie with cake dough filling, it is baked again with frilled cookie dough with a specially arranged strawberry jam (using domestic strawberries). You can enjoy the combination of cookie pastry and cake pastry. It is the bestseller among the dry cake series.

Holy shit! HOW INTENSE DOES THE POLON SOUND??!?! I’d love to try and make some! The food photography is just amazing. I love Japanese pastries. I had some when I went to Malaysia last time and it was so so good. They have a way of making really delicious custard and pudding!

Anyway…as you can tell, food is really exciting to me. I’m actually meeting a Greek granny tomorrow for a new food show I’m doing with one of my friends. I hope it works out- even just one episode would be really cool!!

I’ve had way too much crap to eat these past few days though……..been feeling sick to my stomach the past two days! Hopefully it goes away soon.

I hope you had/are having some lovely time off stuffing yourselves silly too!!! Its nearly the end of year. Might as well go all out right? :)

I just came across these watercolour paintings by Eric Fortune- and don’t they look amazing?!

woah

woah

WOAH

I just love the ethereal-likeness of the paintings. The dreamy texture is just amazing. Watercolour paintings incredibly hard to get right too – pretty amazing!

Also, I came across this on Bakerella:

o.m.g.

Oh my god. Seriously.

LOOK AT IT.

IT’S A CUPCAKE MONSTROSITY.

I really want to  try make them but they’ll probably turn out into a huge gooey mess …. I’m not that great at making icing haha. But omg. Does this picture not make you want to just eat a cupcake? Specifically, cupcakes with huge mounds of marshmallowy icing on top then dipped in chocolate?

I still need to make that red velvet cake which I haven’t gotten around to yet because it requires buttermilk which we usually never have. I’m definitely probably going to make it sometime next week though ^^

On the topic of cake….look at this amazingness:

I want.

*droool*

Six rainbow coloured cakes, stacked on top of each other, covered in icing and hundreds and thousands AND fairy floss??
